Stump Removal with a Subcompact - Part 1 |

This is Part 1 of a three part series showing how we took out a stump from a fallover using a Kubota BX2230 tractor. The stump is approximately 12 inches in diameter and has been down for approximately 5 years so most of the root system was rotten.
The first step was to clear out around the stump and knock off some of the dirt from the roots. The next step was to try and extract the stump out from its hole. The Toothbar attached to the Front End Loader was very helpful with this as it allowed us to get a good "bite" into into the stump. Next we scraped away a little more dirt from the rootball - using the Tothbar allowed us to chip away a lot of the dirt. Finally, we hooked a chain to the stump and pulled it over to the brushpile.
